Morris School District Bond Referendum: Get Informed Now - Vote Fall 2026
Morris School District was built on the mission of creating greater opportunities for all students. Now the district is moving toward a bond referendum to fund enhanced instruction in updated learning environments.
Projects will address building needs and program support
Important News: A State of New Jersey program offers financial aid when school districts use bond funding to improve facilities. This is the best way for MSD to get more state funding, which is especially important because rising costs increase the limitations of the annual budget.

Value of State Aid*
-
State aid covers a portion of the project costs.
-
Funding for projects that can’t fit into annual budget.
-
All NJ taxpayers contribute to revenue that funds school construction.
-
We can bring some of those tax dollars back to benefit our own schools.
*Voter approval required to access state aid
'Basics' are high on the to-do list
A bond referendum would include basic building needs such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and communications systems upgrades. These large-scale projects cannot be addressed through the annual budget, professional advisors will guide the prioritization of these projects.
Additional projects are being considered because of the impact they would have on educational programming. The advantages of upfront funding and state aid make it attractive to consider big changes such as space renovations to convert underutilized space for modern instructional needs.

Community members contributed ideas. School principals also helped set these priorities. The Strategic Plan, for which many community members participated, provided additional insight that led us to focus on these areas:
