Dear Parents and Families of Frelinghuysen,

My name is Aixa D. Garcia, the new Administrator for House Dragon at FMS.  It is my privilege and honor to join FMS and the Morris School District and community.  I am very excited about the upcoming school year as we work together to create meaningful learning experiences for your children.

I’ve been fortunate enough to serve in the field of education for more than 12 years.  After earning a joint degree in Computer Science from Rutgers University and the New Jersey Institute of Technology, I decided to pursue a love for teaching that I discovered while tutoring elementary and middle school students who were interested in careers that focused on math and technology.   During my time in the Newark Public Schools as a middle school math teacher, staff developer and math coach, I had the opportunity to present locally and nationally at several educational conferences about the work students were doing in the classroom. I quickly realized that I enjoyed not only helping students, but also teachers in an effort to build best teaching practices focused on student success for all.  I later earned a MA in Educational Leadership from Seton Hall University, having served as a school administrator at both the high school and middle school levels.  Most recently, I had the pleasure of helping lead Liberty Middle School in West Orange, as assistant principal for the past four years.

Middle school is a special time for our young people.  I believe these years are a critical time of transition and development, setting the foundation for high school and beyond, yielding memories and experiences that will last a lifetime.  It is important to me that everyone who comes through the doors of FMS, our teachers, students and families are excited to be here. This will ensure that we meet the challenges of academic greatness in a positive, fun and supportive environment.  Please know that I welcome your input and encourage you to bring me your concerns and/or suggestions.  Feel free to contact me anytime at the school, or via email at aixa.garcia@msdk12.net.

May you and your family enjoy these last days of summer.  I look forward to getting to know you and your children.  We are confident that this will be a fantastic school year.  Thank you in advance for your support and commitment!

    Respectfully,

    Aixa Garcia
