    Dear Tiger House Families,

My name is Ms. Adams and I am the Supervisor of the Tiger House. I am honored and excited about the opportunity to get to know you, and your child.  I am eager to begin this new journey together and start what I know will be a productive school year full of learning and priceless memories!

I am originally from Los Angeles, California.  I moved to Northern California where I attended the University of California, Davis double majoring in sociology and African-American studies.  After graduation I spent the summer in Ecuador where I taught and built playground equipment for a local indigenous community. I then joined Teach for America and was placed in Newark, New Jersey as a 3rd grade teacher.  I fell in love with teaching, and more specifically my students, so much that I and decided to follow them to 4th grade. I taught 4th grade ELA and SS for three years while attending Columbia, Teachers College earning a degree in sociology and education before joining New Leaders and moving up to 5th grade to teach math and science.  During this time I earned a second masters in educational leadership from Baruch College.  I have been a middle school vice principal for the past two years, and I am currently enrolled in a doctoral program at Rutgers, New Brunswick.

Over the course of this school year, I will work diligently to make the Tiger House a place where your children feel appreciated, and are excited about learning.  I expect, as I know you do, that your children will make significant academic gains and social progress this year, in order to be prepared for continued success beyond our school doors.  I am confident that the outstanding education that we are committed to providing your child will empower them to become life-long learners and afford them countless opportunities throughout life. Without a doubt, a strong home-school relationship is vital to your child’s success. By working together, we will ensure that your child has a fulfilling, engaging learning experience and accomplish our rigorous academic goals for the school year. Throughout the year, we will communicate frequently, and your feedback and insight are always welcomed. I look forward to creating positive lasting relationships with you and your family.

We anticipate the 2015-2016 school year is going to be a great experience! I would like to thank you in advance for your support and commitment to your child’s education throughout the year!

    Sincerely,

    Ashley Adams
