Hello Woodland School Community-
I am honored to be the Principal of Woodland School; a K-2 elementary school that serves a diverse population of approximately 285 students within the Morris School District. Each day our professional staff provides instruction in a blended learning, station rotation model – which balances face to face small group instruction time with a dedicated teacher and the enhancements of digital learning. It is our belief that together we can help our students grow academically, socially and emotionally.
Our students develop literacy skills through a balanced literacy approach that includes Readers’ and Writers’ Workshop, along with the right mix of Read Aloud, Guided Reading, Shared Reading and Writing, and Word Study. In addition, our students develop Math skills and a strong number sense from a student-centered, hands-on approach to learning. To create a well-rounded learning experience, our students also receive instruction in Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, Physical Education, Library, and Computers.
Our caring staff works to provide meaningful lessons and fun experiences so each student will reach his/her full potential while learning many valuable lessons and creating lasting memories. A strong partnership with the home is another key component of a student’s success. Our supportive Home and School Association helps to provide many cultural arts assemblies and other materials to enrich the learning experience.
In order to address a student’s social/emotional development, school must be a place that facilitates the development of strong relationships with peers and adults. The character education program and monthly school spirit assemblies are just a few ways we work to help children feel a strong sense of belonging.
At Woodland School, the partnership of the school, home and community is why we proudly say, “Woodland Works Wonders!!”
