News from the Board of Education

The Board of Education meetings serve as a vital forum for sharing important information with the community, discussing key educational matters, and making essential decisions that shape our schools. While every meeting is important, some sessions contain a greater volume of critical updates and presentations than others.

To ensure the community is fully informed following these particularly information rich meetings, the "News from the Board of Education" articles will be created to highlight the key information. Board of Education meetings can also always be viewed on MSD On Air.

Leading the Way in Digital Wellness: All Elementary Schools are now Common Sense Media Certified!
Elaine Broe

We are proud to announce that every MSD elementary school is now Common Sense School Certified. This achievement marks a district-wide commitment to digital wellness and safety. In addition to the school-level honors, each building media specialist has earned the Common Sense Educator Certification.

What This Means for Our Students

The Common Sense certification is more than just a badge; it represents a commitment to teaching students how to use technology safely, responsibly, and thoughtfully. By integrating digital citizenship practices into our daily routine, we are helping our students:

  • Develop healthy digital habits and balance screen time.

  • Strengthen media literacy to identify credible information.

  • Navigate the online world with confidence and empathy.

  • Protect their privacy and digital footprint.

Leadership in Digital Wellness

We would like to extend a special thank you to our Elementary Educational Technology Specialist, Chrissie Masi, for her leadership in launching and managing this program across our schools.

Resources for Families

Digital citizenship doesn't stop at the school gates. To help maintain this certification and keep our community informed, Chrissie has curated a Digital Citizen Newsletter. This resource is packed with practical tips and tools to help families manage technology use at home.

Digital Citizen Newsletter

Congratulations to our educators, students, and staff for leading the way in digital wellness.
