Antiracism & Social Justice
On November 9, 2020, the Morris School District Board of Education unanimously approved a resolution affirming our commitment to be an antiracist school district and our pledge to promote social justice.
The Morris School District Board of Education hereby affirms the commitment to partner with all members of our community to accomplish the critical work of antiracism and equal opportunity in order to accelerate and achieve progress in social justice and to establish a true “Community of Communities” in the Morris School District ...
Our resolution aligns with BOE Policy 5757, Antiracism, which the Board of Education adopted on March 15, 2021. Policy is a manifest expression of our values and provides a framework for actions and decisions throughout the district; we recognize that the faithful and consistent alignment between our values and our actions lead to impactful, sustainable results in student well-being and achievement.
The Board of Education has received professional development from the NJ School Boards Association on the topic of implicit bias and microaggressions.
