Interdistrict School Choice
New Jersey’s Interdistrict School Choice program is designed to expand educational opportunities for students and their families by providing the option for students to attend a public school outside their district of residence. The Morris School District is proud to be among New Jersey’s “Choice” districts. As such, a student who resides in a school district other than the Morris School District may apply to attend school in the Morris School District at no cost to the student's family.
The Morris School District offers a comprehensive educational program for students in grades Pre-K through high school. A summary of District programs and Interdistrict Choice Policies may be found here
Parents who are interested in having their child participate in the Morris School District Interdistrict Public School Choice program for the 2015-2016 school year must submit an Application for Enrollment in a Choice District 2015-2016 School Year to the Morris School District by December 1, 2014. If your child is currently registered with his/her resident district, parents also must submit to their "home" (resident) district a Notice of Intent to Participate by December 1, and obtain a signed receipt acknowledging that you submitted the form. Keep this receipt for your records. By law, a resident district must be informed if a student intends to participate in the choice program.
Transportation from the student's resident/home district to the Choice district is not guaranteed. If the cost of transportation will exceed $884, the parent/guardian will be given $884 as aid in lieu of transportation or, in some cases, the option of receiving the transportation and paying any additional cost above $884. By August 5, 2015, parents should receive notification of their transportation options from the resident district.
