Effective September 1, 2011, The New Jersey First Act implemented May 17, 2011, requires all employees of a school district to reside in the state of New Jersey.

Employees of the Morris School District hired after the effective date who do not reside in the State of New Jersey at the time of hire have one year from the effective date of employment to relocate their primary residence to New Jersey.  

Employees of the school district hired prior to the September 1, 2011 effective date of this Act are grandfathered and are not required to relocate to New Jersey.

Substitute Teachers

At this time the Morris School District Substitute list is currently closed and will re-open August 1, 2013. 

Please email starting August 1, 2013 (No phone calls please):  Keshia Rivers at keshia.rivers@msdk12.net for paperwork and appointment.  Applications will not be accepted without an appointment. 

 Completion of all paperwork and interview required prior to Board Approval.

To become a substitute teacher for the Morris School District, candidates must possess

either a valid New Jersey Teaching Certificate or a valid Substitute Certificate. If you do

not possess a valid Substitute Certificate, the Morris School District will process application

for candidates who reside in Morris Township and Morristown and who have

at least 60 college credits. All candidates who reside outside this area must be processed

by their respective District.
