The elementary social studies program conforms to the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards in Social Studies. The course of study develops students’ content knowledge and skills in social science education along a continuum from self to larger world that situates students within ever widening contexts.

  • Kindergarten students study the self, family, home and school.
  • Students in grade one study the neighborhood and municipal community.
  • In second grade, students pursue an in-depth study of Morristown and Morris County.
  • Third grade students study New Jersey and explore its surrounding states.
  • In fourth grade, students survey the geographic regions of the United States.
  • Social studies in grade five offers a survey of the principal periods of United States history.
