Registration Procedures

  • The Parent must register the student in person.

  • The student must be present.

  • An official copy of the birth certificate with a raised seal must be presented upon registration.

  • Parents should present health records for review by the school nurse, who will determine if they comply with requirements for immunizations and physical examinations.

  • If a person other than a parent attempts to register a student, that person must provide proof of legal guardianship approved through court action or meet criteria for other exceptional circumstances.

If you need more information about this, please call the Pupil Services Department at 973-292-2300, ext. 2013.

  • Registration requires documentation of residency through either proof of home ownership (property tax bill, contract of sale, mortgage, etc.) or a copy of a current lease and two other proofs of residence. These may include:
    • Current utility bills (phone, cable, gas, electric, etc.)
    • Voter registration
    • Financial account information
    • Delivery receipts, or other documentation that shows attachment to the particular location.

  • When the parent/guardian does not lease or own the domicile and is staying with another party who owns or rents property, the parent or legal guardian must submit a notarized statement from the person who does own or lease the property, indicating that he or she is residing there with the student.

  • When the parent/guardian is planning to purchase property and become a resident within sixty days of registration, he or she may apply for permission to register the student through the Superintendent's office. Specific documentation, such as contract of sale, provision of an escrow check for tuition, etc., will be required.

Under very unusual circumstances students are permitted to attend who are not residents, upon payment of tuition at an approved rate.
It is essential that a parent inform the school if a student is eligible for special education services to ensure appropriate programming .
