The board directs the Superintendent or his/her designee to develop and implement a systematic short-range and long-range plan for the continuing qualitative assessment of the progress of the educational program toward the goals established by the board. To this end, he/she shall recommend such tests, surveys, and methods as may be indicated by his/her best professional judgment.
The board reserves the right to review each such instruments and to approve those which serve a legitimate purpose without infringing upon the personal rights of the pupils or their parents/ guardians. The results of any evaluation may be released by the Superintendent or his/her designee using district-wide data. Parents/guardians may obtain an explanation of the results of their child's test from qualified school personnel.
The Superintendent or his/her designee shall (annually) conduct an assessment of program effectiveness using the criteria established by the Board of Education and the New Jersey Department of Education. Results of the standardized testing program and the Quality Assurance Annual Report (QAAR) shall be presented to the Board of Education at a public meeting in October.
The board will cooperate with the commissioner in the conduct of such state-wide assessment programs as are required by the state board of education and shall use the data gained thereby toward the improvement of the schools of this district.
