IMPLEMENTATION OF ADA

The Board of Education recognizes its responsibility to provide appropriate program modification for students with disabilities. For purposes of this policy, a student with a disability is one who (a) has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, (b) has a record of such an impairment; or (c) is regarded as having such an impairment. A student may have a disability under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) even though the student does not qualify for services pursuant to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

The Superintendent or his/her designee, in collaboration with school staff, shall develop regulations to ensure that each student with a disability within the meaning of Section 504 and ADA is identified, evaluated, and provided with an appropriate education in the least restricted environment.
