PUBLICATIONS

Freedom of speech and of expression in pupil publications, as guaranteed by the First Amendment, is to be observed scrupulously by the administration, faculty, and pupils. Freedom, however, does not mean unbridled license.

Freedom of expression in school sponsored pupil publications shall be interpreted as including, but not being contrary to:
  • Development of responsibility in distinguishing between freedom and license;

  • Consideration by the faculty of the maturity levels of pupils and of appropriate standards of journalistic taste; · Care for the development of pupils' writing skills.
The regulation of pupil publications shall be a direct responsibility of the superintendent's designee with provisions for appeal to the board.
