The Board of Education believes that a comprehensive educational program must provide for the intellectual, social, and emotional growth of all pupils, kindergarten through grade 12, giving them the basic body of skills, understandings, attitudes and knowledge needed for living in a democracy. The Morris School District shall provide an educational program that includes:
- All programs and services mandated by New Jersey statute or administrative code;
- Such other programs and services required to attain the educational goals and objectives for the District.
The instructional program shall include the following subject fields:
- Language Arts Literacy
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
- Health, Physical Education, and Safety
- Visual, Performing, and Practical Arts
- World Languages
The Superintendent or his/her designee shall work collaboratively with teachers to develop and implement a curriculum that:
- Focuses on the educational goals and objectives of the District;
- Complies with Board of Education policy and state regulations (N.J.A.C. 6:8-3 through 5);
- Incorporates New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards and Workplace Readiness Skills;
- Facilitates differentiated instruction (i.e., continuum of skills, variety of instructional resources and methodology, diagnostic/prescriptive approach to basic skill development, modification for gifted and talented, limited English proficiency, and special educational needs, and enrichment opportunities for all students);
- Provides career and vocational education opportunities; and
- Integrates instructional technology
The Superintendent or his/her designee shall direct development of and present to the board for adoption a written curriculum for each subject field of within the instructional program. :
A listing of all courses and programs comprising the instructional program shall be available in the district office.
