Community Disaster Plan
The Superintendent or his/her designee shall develop and implement a community disaster plan which will provide facilities, equipment, and training in order to minimize the effect of a disaster.
This plan must provide as much protection as possible for the children at school and on their way to and from school.
In addition, provision shall be made to provide adequate training in self-protection and survival techniques for pupils enrolled in all the schools so that the school emergency plan may be carried out with the greatest possible speed and safety.
Any updates to this plan shall be presented annually to the Board of Education for approval.
Emergency Closings
The Superintendent or his/her designee shall have the power to close the schools entirely, delay opening them, or to close them early in the event of bad weather or other emergencies. He/she shall advise the board president.
Parents/guardians shall be informed at the beginning of the year of how notice will be given of delayed openings and emergency closings. Parents/guardians are responsible for making alternative arrangements if they are not home when children are released early.
