The Morris School District recognizes the increasing incidence of suicide among schoolchildren nationwide,
particularly adolescents. The district further realizes that suicides may be prevented through suicide
awareness education programs in the schools and crisis intervention programs for adolescents and their
families in the community.
Therefore, the board directs the superintendent to establish administrative rules, regulations and procedures
(ARRPs) which will:
- Ensure that instances of adolescent suicide symptoms or attempts are reported;
- Establish a cooperative relationship with community health agencies in an effort to provide the
necessary assistance for those pupils who are considered suicidal;
- Ensure that appropriate awareness and prevention programs on adolescent suicide be initiated and
maintained for staff, pupils and parents guardians.
