Annual charts shall be prepared by the Superintendent and approved by the Board of Education
to designate clearly the relationships of all employees within the district organization. The
changes shall be kept up to date; all changes shall be approved by the Board.
The Morris School District shall operate under a unit control system headed by the
Superintendent (which means that the Superintendent is the chief executive officer and
supervises all functions of the district, including financial functions).
The authority of the Board of Education is transmitted through the Superintendent, Assistant
Superintendent(s) and Board Secretary/Business Administrator along specific paths, from person
to person, as shown in the organization chart of the school district. The lines of authority
represent direction of authority and responsibility. The lines are those approved by the Board of
Education and are intended to establish a clear understanding on the part of all district personnel
of the working relationships within the school system.
Personnel are expected to refer matters requiring administrative action to the administrator or
supervisor to whom they are responsible. Each building Principal shall be the chief school
administrator of his/her school. Personnel are expected to keep the person to whom they are
immediately responsible informed of their activities by appropriate means (i.e., meetings, memos,
telephone calls, computer, and any other forms of communication).
