The Board recognizes the value to pupils when they share their talents and skills with the community
through participation in public events and other aspects of community life.
The Board endorses such participation when it:
- Constitutes a learning experience which contributes to the educational program;
- Does not unduly interfere with other scheduled educational activities of the school;
- Does not in any way pose a threat to the health, safety, and well-being of the pupils who will be
involved.
In order to implement this policy it is required that:
- All requests for public performances by pupils shall be presented to the Superintendent for prior
approval;
- Written and/or witnessed parent/guardian permission must be sought and received before pupils may
participate;
- No pupil may be compelled to participate in a public performance or community activity, or be
penalized in any way for failure to do so;
- No pupil or group of pupils may receive compensation for their participation in an organized school
activity;
- Sponsoring organizations shall pay the expenses of transportation when appropriate. All
transportation plans must receive the approval of the Superintendent or his/her designee;
transportation permission slips must also be signed by the parent/guardian.
