5 MHS Science Academy students awarded research grants

Five Morristown High School research science students have been awarded Young Science Achievers Program grants. The Young Science Achievers Program is a non-profit organization committed to inspiring groups underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, and math to pursue careers in these fields. The program, which receives financial and organizational support from the Lucent Technologies Foundation, the AT&T Foundation and the New Jersey Science Teachers Association, provides high school students with resources, technical support, and mentoring.

The students, and their research projects are:

  • Anna McCabe - Success rates of various canine breeds in animal assisted therapy.
  • Morgan Cole - The effect of using pre-sleep visual stimuli in dreams.
  • Hannah Goldberg - Using apple slignate food films on lettuce plants inoculated with Ecolab K12.
  • Paige Diamond - Color perception in learning and memory using color overlays.
  • Sara Fisch - Synaesthesia.

Each student has been awarded full funding for her research and will compete in the Young Science Achievers Program Science Fair in June.
