Second graders were challenged to design chain reactions using Maker Space STEM kits. Students collaborated, designed and tested the chain reactions. Improvements and redesigns were part of the learning process!
Last week, Hillcrest students kicked off Computer Science Education Week by learning how to program BeeBots. The little robots were funded by the MEF grant: Books, Bytes and Bots, which is helping to create maker spaces in the Morris School District's K-5 schools. This week students are working on the Hour of Code, learning the foundations of computer programming through fun, age-appropriate games on www.code.org.
The Morris School District Board of Education Regulation 2460.1 contains the language “All pupils with disabilities, who are in need of special education and related services, … regardless of the severity of their disabilities, must be located, identified and evaluated according to N.J.A.C. 6A:14-3.3.” If you are concerned that your child (of any age) may have a disability that impacts or will impact their ability to succeed in school, please contact your child’s teacher or the building principal to learn about the resources available to help your child.
